Activity 1.1



Daily I interact with a variety of parents, children, and staff members. I offer open communication with all families and staff. As mentioned in the text, in this business, word of mouth and families personal experiences can make or break your business. To ensure that problems will be at a minuim, I communicate verbal with parents daily to allow them the opportunity to voice any concerns or issues they may be having. Communication is KEY in this type of business and as long as they doors of communication remain open, this should allow you to be very successful.

Activity 1.2



I feel the situation was handled correctly. All avenues of concerns were addressed from noting the incident, to talking with the child about the proper ways to handle anger issues. Educating the parent on how biting is common at this age was a good way to assure the parents that this was something that may happen again, but if at all will be prevented. Asking the parent if the actions were acceptable allows the parents to decide whether anything further actions should be taken. I feel that all areas were covered in the conversation.

Activity 1.3

I visualize my business as being top of the line in providing affordable, quality care to families from all walks of life. My rates would be reasonable for any family and although the rates would be reasonable I would still implement the highest quality of care. To compete with the competitors, I would offer mother's day out and discounted or no enrollment fees to families who may have difficulty paying these fees. My center would be academically oriented as well as student driven. Allowing children to express themselves through play and art allows the child to be themselves and feel comfortable doing so. As far as polices, I would closely follow and implement the NAEYC of ethics as well as follow guidelines as handed down from OKDHS. My curriculum would be child driven based and my equipment will be safe, approved equipment, and age appropriate. The strengths of my center would be that I am family oriented, have properly educated staff, follow and implement the NAEYC code of ethical standards and lastly, affordable. In the areas of improvement, I would like to offer more resources or referrals to families who may need assistance.
